Everyone knows that in oral to maintain excellent oral hygiene, people have to brush their teeth. Not just before you go to bed, but also before you leave for work or school in the morning. Your breath will offend others, and the plaque will eat away at your precious chompers.

Everyone also knows generally what will happen if they do not brush their teeth every day. But do many people know how long they should be brushing per session? Or about what will happen if they do not brush long enough?

Brush For at Least Two Minutes

Yes, we are all busy people. We have work, school, families, and many other activities vying for our attention. However, you must still work to find time to brush your teeth for at least two minutes. It is generally understood that you should brush your teeth for at least that long in order to scrub and remove grime and plaque.

But two minutes may not be enough. The longer you brush, the more surface area of your teeth you get clean. Also, when you brush for more than the minimum two minutes, you are also more likely to pay closer attention to your gums, allowing you to stop gum disease before it even begins. It may seem like a pain to brush for two minutes or more, but your teeth will thank you for it in the long run.

The costs of not brushing long enough are bigger than you think. A quick brush probably means that you are not brushing as thoroughly as you could be brushing. By not brushing thoroughly, you are making a breeding ground for harmful bacteria. That bacteria leads to problems such as gingivitis, among others.

So, the cost may be a huge dental bill in the future! Does that sound like something you want? We did not think so!
